Hello and Welcome!
My name is Al Duffy and I am a nonbinary actor located in Chicago IL. Originally hailing from Michigan and spending my college years at Wayne State University in Detroit, as well as training at MXAT in Moscow Russia on a study abroad.
I use They/Them pronouns and had a gender affirming breast reduction in 2022. Not only was this a huge change for my personal life, but I’m now able to bind for more masculine roles and auditions with ease and safety. I am comfortable portraying a wide range of genders including roles traditionally cast as women and men (notoriously desperate to play LeFou in BatB and Farquaad in Shrek). And always happy playing roles outside the gender spectrum, although I prefer not to play characters who are specifically trans men.
I particularly shine in over the top and campy parodies and re-imaginations (think Titanique or Schmigadoon) . But I also have a deep love for classical theatre and Shakespeare through the modern lens. I love being able to bring something new to a well known role, and specifically love clown and fool roles such as Malvolio in Twelfth Night.
Some of my favorite roles to play have been Brad Majors (Rocky Horror), the Steward (Into the Woods) and Che Diaz in a Romcom Parody Musical entitled You’ve Got Male.
In my offstage time I love to watch shows, play DND and do improv, as well as weight lifting, making coffee/espresso drinks, and playing Nintendo or co-op games with friends.
All in all, what brings me the most joy in life is storytelling. I’ll try anything once, especially with like minded artists :)
